This is what Expoartesanías 2025, Latin America's most important craft fair, will be like
From December 5 to 18, 2025, Corferias will open its doors to a new edition of Expoartesanías, Latin America's most important craft fair and one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year. For 14 days, visitors will discover, appreciate, and support the talent of more than 1,000 artisans from all over Colombia, as well as international delegations joining this showcase of ancestral art, contemporary design, and sustainable innovation.
In its previous edition, the fair welcomed more than 63,000 visitors, establishing itself as a meeting point between tradition and market, culture and economic development, and as a fundamental platform for the growth of the Colombian craft sector.
José Rafael Vecino Oliveros, acting general manager of Artesanías de Colombia, emphasizes that this event transcends the concept of a trade fair:
“Expoartesanías is much more than a fair; it is an encounter with our roots, with ancestral knowledge, and with the diversity that makes Colombia great. Each handcrafted piece tells the story of a people, a community, of hands that create with love and responsibility toward nature.”
An expanding sector with global reach
Colombian handicrafts are experiencing a period of strengthening and expansion. Between 2022 and October 2025, Artesanías de Colombia has documented more than 19,400 artisans through psychosocial and environmental processes, contributing to the professionalization and sustainability of the craft.
The 2025 Territorial Call for Proposals, “Handicrafts, Territory, and Total Peace,” has shown remarkable growth: from 5,591 registered artisans in 2022 to 32,597 in 2025, an increase of 483%, representing participants from all 32 departments of the country.
This momentum is also reflected in the presence of pieces and creators in prestigious international settings. Examples include:
The arrival of the iconic "four-bristled" basket in international luxury showcases.
The participation of Arte Chelita (Nariño) in the 2025 Révélations Biennale in Paris.
Expoartesanías is an encounter with the artists who bring each piece to life. Every exhibited object has a story, an inherited technique, and a process that can take days or even weeks of work. Visitors will be able to explore crafts such as:
Traditional weaving and natural basketry
Ceramics, wood carving, and regional fibers
Jewelry and contemporary filigree
Textiles and fashion with a distinct identity
Cuisine and local knowledge
Laura Silva, Expoartesanías project manager at Corferias, states:
“Expoartesanías is an invitation to recognize the value of who we are and what unites us. Every year we open a space for thousands of Colombians and visitors from around the world to connect with the vibrant energy of our cultures.”
Highlight: Corferias becomes the first venue and trade fair operator in the world certified as a B Corp.
