The Dutch artist Peter Nieuwendijk was born in Amsterdam in 1946. He is a self-taught artist. His works are in the possession of private collectors, museums and galleries. Nieuwendijk has exhibited his works of art since 1965 and his cartoons since 1985. As a cartoonist, he participated in more than 50 different cartoon festivals around the world. Awards and recognitions He has been winner of the “Gold Prize” in Zemun, Serbia – 2005, first place with the song “Man to Man” in Busteni, Romania – 2007, Postal Art prize in Serbia 2008 and the silver medal at the Puliya Festival in Cyprus – 2009. He has also won several other awards and Honorable Mentions in various countries such as Belgium, Canada, Romania, Italy, Serbia, China, Macedonia, Cyprus, Portugal, Egypt and Turkey. He was selected more than 100 times for international festival catalogues; He was organized and director of 21 cartoon festivals in Holland and member of the jury in different places around the world. He was also co-founder of the Federation of Cartoonists' Organizations (FECO) in 1985, founder of the Dutch Cartoon Association “De Tulp” in 1983, editor-in-chief of the magazine “Feconews” and general president of FECO (from May 2009). as of June 2013).
