Edgar Bernardo Dos Santos, known as Ed-Mun, is a prominent Brazilian street artist who recently contributed to a significant street art project in Cotonou, Benin. The project’s goal was to create the world’s largest mural for the Effet Graff festival, themed “Nouveau Bénin.” Working with 25 other artists, including 15 from abroad, they painted a mural over one kilometer long at Cotonou’s port. The mural aims to break the record for the longest graffiti mural by reaching 1,300 meters. It honors Benin’s history and culture, including the restitution of 26 historical treasures from France in 2021. Dos Santos’ work features a half-man, half-shark statue of King Béhanzin, while other artists highlighted the Dahomey amazons, symbolizing the strength of Beninese women. The project is a tribute to Benin’s heritage and a celebration of its future.
