Yunior Hurtado Torres is a Cuban figurative painter born in 1977 in Santa Clara, Cuba. He began his formal art studies at the age of 11 at the Olga Alonzo Vocational School of Art in Santa Clara. In 1999, he graduated in painting, sculpture, and art restoration from the Oscar Fernández Morera Academy in Trinidad. After completing his studies, he worked as a teacher at the academy and later led painting workshops in his hometown. Over the years, he has developed a prolific career, taking part in more than forty solo and group exhibitions in Cuba and abroad. His works are included in private collections across Europe and the United States, especially in Denmark and the USA. In 2013, he relocated to Lima, Peru, where he continues to live and work. His style is defined by figurative realism that explores human behavior, emotions, and sociocultural identity. Through his use of shapes, symbols, and written elements, he creates a semiotic visual language that invites dialogue with viewers. His process emphasizes mastery of light, spatial awareness, and the freshness of spontaneous expression. Hurtado finds inspiration in Renaissance masters, Impressionists, and modern artists such as Van Gogh, Richter, Sorolla, and Warhol. His paintings aim to form universal connections that transcend cultural and geographic boundaries.
