Cristóbal Ojeda (also known by his artistic name Newfren ) is a Chilean designer and illustrator based in Santiago. He discovered his passion for drawing at an early age, entertaining himself with sketches of his classmates and gradually refining his talent. During his university years he pursued a degree in design, which provided a strong foundation for his transition into professional illustration. Drawing heavily on his design training, he began to merge visual communication techniques with his love for characters, typography and playful forms. Over the years he has worked both as a full-time designer and freelance illustrator for local and international clients. His portfolio includes brand identities, T-shirt and streetwear designs, playful character art and large scale illustration projects. Themes of fantasy, robots, urban culture and vivid colour palettes are frequent in his work. He has built an online following by sharing his personal illustrations and fan-art, establishing himself as a creative voice in the Chilean and Latin American illustration scene. In addition to client work he has developed personal projects that reflect his humour, pop-culture references and nostalgic sensibility. As an educator he also shares his knowledge by creating online courses aimed at illustrators, focusing on how to develop collections of illustrated prints for apparel. His dedication to both craft and design has allowed him to sustain a vibrant practice, blending commercial projects with artistic experimentation.
