Brian Sánchez Jiménez is a Cuban visual artist born in Santiago de Cuba in 1986. His early years were marked by a difficult battle with Perthes disease, which left him unable to walk until the age of nine. During his recovery, he turned to drawing as a form of escape and self-expression, discovering a deep passion for art. He pursued formal training at the School of Art Instructors in Santiago, focusing on visual arts. Sánchez's work is defined by a unique blend of hyperrealism, surrealism, and symbolic imagery. His paintings often explore the subconscious, memory, and emotional states, influenced by thinkers like C.G. Jung and Noam Chomsky. He frequently portrays female figures and uses rich textures and vivid colors, drawing inspiration from artists like Gustav Klimt and Pedro Pablo Oliva. His mixed media approach—typically oil on linen—adds depth and emotional resonance to his compositions. Recurring motifs like circles symbolize time, cycles, and the inner world. Pieces such as “Dream in Pink” and “Affected Memory” exemplify his intricate storytelling and visual poetry. Sánchez’s work has been exhibited internationally and is featured on platforms like 1stDibs and Saatchi Art. Now living in the United States, he continues to create works that invite viewers into an introspective journey through layered narratives and emotional complexity. His paintings reflect a deep sensitivity to detail and a commitment to exploring the unseen corners of the human condition.
