Osvaldo Gutiérrez Gómez also known as "Osval" was born on September 26, 1971 in Ciego de Avila, Cuba. He graduated in Social Communication from the “Máximo Gómez Báez” University (UNICA) in Ciego de Ávila in 2012. He worked as an editorial cartoonist in the provincial newspaper “Invasor” and currently works as a photojournalist for the “Cuban News Agency” ( ACN). Osvaldo started drawing cartoons in 1985 and his first cartoon was published in 1986 in the “Palante” newspaper. Since then his works have been published in several Cuban newspapers. He currently collaborates with Cuban publications such as "Dedete", "Melaito", "Pallas" and "La Picua". Osvaldo Gutiérrez Gómez presented his caricatures in individual exhibitions at the "Raúl Martínez de Ciego de Ávila" Art Gallery in 2014 and 2015 and is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). He won third place in the XIX International Biennial of Humor-Havana – 2015.
