Kael Abello is a Venezuelan visual artist, graphic designer, and activist born in Caracas. He holds a degree in literature from the Central University of Venezuela and has been deeply involved in the cultural and political landscape of his country. YES! Magazine+2Tricontinental Institute+2The Markaz+2 Abello co-founded the artists' collective Comando Creativo in 2008, aiming to support Venezuela's Bolivarian Revolution through visual communication. The collective is known for its use of graffiti, stencils, and murals to engage communities and promote political messages. Abello emphasized the importance of accessible art forms, stating, "When the only thing we have is cardboard and spray paint, we ask ourselves, 'How can I make this image capture people's attention?'" In addition to his work with Comando Creativo , Abello is a member of Utopix , a collaborative initiative based in Caracas that focuses on creating counter-hegemonic historical narratives through graphic communication. He also serves in the art department of the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research , where he contributes to the visual representation of global struggles. Abello's artistic contributions have been recognized nationally; he received the Simón Bolívar National Journalism Award in 2018 for his graphic work. His art often centers on themes of social justice, anti-imperialism, and solidarity with global movements, including his participation in exhibitions supporting the Palestinian cause.
