Jozef Gruspier was born on May 12, 1952 in Bratislava, Slovakia. After graduating he worked until 1992 as administrative personnel in the construction area, currently he concentrates on construction activities as an independent worker. He began creating cartoons in 1970. The first drawings of him appeared in the Czech humor magazine "Jezek". Later, his works were also published in several Slovak newspapers and magazines. Since 1984 he began to publish in the humorous weekly "Rohac", to which he collaborated until its extinction in 1991. Since 2008 he has participated in national and international cartoon competitions, where he won several awards (let us mention at least the well-known cartoon competition "Novomestsky Osten", where little by little he won the bronze, silver and gold “Osten” prize). Jozef Gruspier's works were presented at the exhibition of successful participants of "Novomestsky Osten" in Filakovo and at the exhibition "Cartoons and Caricatures in Slovakia" in Trencin, which represented a quarter of a century of development of Slovak cartoons.
