Pablo Bernasconi is an Argentine graphic designer, illustrator, author, and visual storyteller. Born in Buenos Aires in 1973, he graduated in design from the University of Buenos Aires, where he also taught for six years. He began his career in 1998 as an illustrator for the newspaper Clarín and later collaborated with international publications such as The New York Times , The Wall Street Journal , The Times , and Rolling Stone . Bernasconi has authored and illustrated numerous children’s books, including The Diary of Captain Arsenio , The Wizard, the Horrible and the Red Book of Spells , and Lies and Bruises , as well as visual works for adults such as Portraits , Endings , and Bifocal . His style is rich in symbolism and collage, often merging literature, philosophy, mathematics, and architecture into visual metaphors that inspire thought and reflection. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including distinctions from the Society for News Design, the Zena Sutherland Best Children’s Book of the Year Award, and recognition as a finalist for the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award. In 2024, he received the Platinum Konex Award for his contribution to children’s literature. In addition to his books and illustrations, Bernasconi regularly publishes a graphic opinion column in La Nación . He also maintains a strong commitment to social causes, collaborating for decades with organizations such as UNICEF, Greenpeace, and Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo. His work continues to inspire across generations, combining visual creativity with a deep humanistic vision.
