Dimitris Georgopalis

Dimitris Georgopalis was born in Corfu, Greece. He studied Business Administration and Byzantine iconography. He is a member of the Journalists’ Union and the Greek Cartoonists Association. He has participated in numerous cartoon exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In December 2024, he traveled to Mexico as a guest of the School of Arts, Architecture, and Design at the University of Guadalajara. There, he was honored with an award. He currently works as an editorial cartoonist and illustrator for the weekly newspaper Realnews . In 2025, he won Second Prize at “It’s a Trump World” , World Press Freedom, Canada. In 2024, he received First Prize at the LEA Festival in Greece. In 2022, he was awarded the Excellence Award at the 22nd World Press Freedom Competition in Canada. In 2020, he won First Prize for gag cartoon at World Press Cartoon in Portugal. In 2019, he earned an Honorable Mention at World Press Cartoon, Portugal. That same year, he received the Silver Hut at Knokke-Heist Cartoon Contest in Belgium. In 2018, he won First Prize at the International Anti-War Cartoon Contest in Norway. His works reflect a blend of humor, social critique, and artistic originality.
