Pedro Schirato is a self-taught Brazilian painter from Franca, who began his art journey at age 12 under the influence of his father, painter Luiz Schirato. Over a career spanning more than six decades, he has created an impressive body of roughly three thousand paintings. His work often explores memories and photographs of Franca’s landscapes, historic buildings, and coastal scenes, reflecting a nostalgic and impressionistic vision. Known for his soft, loosely detailed brushwork, Schirato considers himself an impressionist, drawing inspiration from artists like Renoir and Monet. His pieces celebrate mood and light over sharp contours, evoking emotion through suggestion rather than precision. He has earned recognition with around 15 awards in regional salons across cities such as Rio Claro, Araraquara, and Jaboticabal. A particularly meaningful moment in his career was receiving an honorable mention at the São Paulo Fine Arts Salon in the early 1970s—an honor that affirmed his growing reputation beyond his hometown. Many of his paintings now grace private collections in Spain and Germany, purchased by visitors moved by his nostalgic representations of Franca. In recent years, his studio—located first in the city center and later in the bustling Franca Shopping—has drawn steady interest and boosted his gallery as he continues to paint daily and sell several works each month. To Pedro, painting is a lifelong act of joy, connection, and creative persistence.
