Jan Op De Beeck was born in 1958 in Congo and together with his family moved to Belgium in 1960. He obtained a master's degree in 1979 at “Sint-Thomas” in Brussels and graduated in model drawing from the “Royal Academy of Mechelen”. He began teaching arts in 1979 at the Coloma Institute in Mechelen.
