Exhibition “A Look at our Children” by Elizabeth Elba arrives in Cascavel to question the impact of the digital age on family relationships
The Cascavel Art Museum presents an exhibition of sculptures by Elizabeth Elba, which brings to light reflections on the relationships between parents and children in a world dominated by technology

The Department of Culture, through the Cascavel Art Museum, is about to inaugurate the exhibition “A Look at Our Children”, an artistic intervention by Elizabeth Elba that promises to raise important questions about family dynamics in the digital age. The exhibition will be held in the Green Room of the Sandálio dos Santos Municipal Public Library from October 4th to 31st, 2023, with the opening ceremony scheduled for 5:30 pm on October 4th, where the artist herself will welcome visitors.

The exhibition of sculptures in small formats, made with recyclable materials and papier-mâché dough, is a dive into the complex relationship between parents and children in contemporary society, strongly influenced by technology and the speed of modern life. Elizabeth Elba uses her art to express concerns about the lack of time for family life, the excessive use of electronic devices by children and the challenges of raising children in an increasingly digitalized world.

Elba criticizes the way family relationships are affected by contemporary life, where anxiety and impatience often replace patience and quality time with children. The artist's sculptures depict common everyday scenes, such as children asking for attention from their parents, who are often busy with their electronic devices.

The exhibition also addresses the concept of “child digital intoxication”, highlighting the dangers of excessive screen use by children. With technology and digital media becoming increasingly powerful influences in children's lives, Elizabeth Elba questions how it can shape their minds and bodies for better or worse.

The exhibition explores how the digital and technological environment can affect the development of children and adolescents, highlighting the importance of parental and family attention in this process.
