Balance is a 1989 German stop-motion animated short film directed by Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein. The film depicts five individuals living on a small platform floating in space. The group must work cooperatively to maintain their balance, but when one of them pulls a box onto the platform, the balance is upset. Balance won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1989. The film is a metaphor for the interdependence of people and the importance of cooperation.
