Material Art Fair 2026

Material Art Fair 2026

Five exhibition spaces, a Latin American presence, and activities throughout the city: Material expands during Art Week.
The Material Art Fair changes venues and, as is customary, challenges our perspectives on Art Week in Mexico City. In its 2026 edition, the fair inaugurates Maravilla Studios as its new home and opts for a broader, more flexible format, befitting the scale that one of the key contemporary art events in the region has reached.

The dates chosen for Material to celebrate its 12th edition are February 5-8, now within a large-format space in the Atlampa neighborhood (next to Tlatelolco), marking the beginning of a new phase that seeks to rethink the visitor experience and how art is viewed—and acquired—in the city.

A Larger Venue for an Expanding Feria Material

After three consecutive editions at Expo Reforma and having welcomed more than 18,000 visitors in 2025, Feria Material is moving to Maravilla Studios (Fresno 315, Atlampa). What does this mean? A much larger industrial space that will allow the organizers to spread their offerings across five exhibition halls. The change seems sensible to those of us who have attended in previous years; there wasn't much room left to expand (although it must be admitted that their location in the Juárez neighborhood was very convenient). This move will allow them to grow without losing their identity and offer a more open environment for dialogue between galleries, artists, and the public.
International Participation with a Latin American Focus

The 2026 edition will bring together 78 exhibitors from 21 countries and 38 cities, and more than half of the galleries are from Latin America. The idea is to reaffirm Material's commitment to showcasing the region's artistic production in dialogue with the international art scene.

It's not just about booths: public program and parallel activities

As is tradition, Feria Material goes beyond the exhibition center and presents an active public program. Material Monday will kick off Art Week on February 2nd, with a circuit of exhibitions in more than 15 galleries, free transportation, and a day of free exploration. In addition, there will be two days of performances at Casa del Lago (UNAM) as part of the IMMATERIAL program, as well as talks in the VOCAL series, focused on the dynamics of collecting in Mexico, which will take place within the fair.

As if that weren't enough, the third generation of Material Projects will debut at this edition. It will feature six independent initiatives that seek to reinforce the fair's role as a platform for supporting and fostering the growth of emerging spaces.

Material 2026 is exciting

The move to Maravilla Studios marks a key moment in the history of Feria Material. More space, more voices, and more possibilities to explore contemporary art. In an increasingly intense (and perhaps even saturated) Art Week, Material responds with insight, daring, and an open question: how do we want to experience art today?
