The contemporary art exhibition was inaugurated

The new edition of the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of South America, Bienalsur 2025, was officially inaugurated.

This year, it was the fifth edition and was held at the Muntref Center for Contemporary Art, Hotel of Inmigrants, in Buenos Aires. In short, it is a decentralized cultural project that connects art spaces, artists, and communities internationally.

On this occasion, the international exhibition celebrates ten years since its creation as an art space without borders, and will be replicated in 140 locations in more than seventy cities around the world.

After the official opening at the Hotel Inmigrant, the exhibition will continue this Sunday at Memory Park, a monument to the victims of state terrorism (KM 8) and at the Isaac Fernández Blanco Museum of Latin American Art (KM 1). and starting Tuesday the 8th at the Perea Palace cultural space of the Brazilian Embassy (KM 1.4) and at the Matta Cultural Center of the Chilean Embassy in Argentina (KM 3.8).

Within this framework, Anísbal Jozami, general director of the exhibition and Muntref, spoke with the profile about the themes defining this edition. “Each edition allows us to improve the project, and this time more countries are participating than in previous editions. Being internationally recognized, we can make a better selection of artists from different places,” said Jozami.

This year's participating artists include Pistoletto Michelangelo, a featured artist in the exhibition, Marta Minujín, Vik Muniz, Liliana Porter, and Pierre Ardovin, among others.

Let's Play/Let's Play in the World was conceived as a playful and interactive experience referencing Hopscotch, by Julio Cortázar.

“Each visitor will build their own path, choosing their own way of playing with the selected artists, engaging and accepting the challenge each work poses,” said Diana Wechsler, the exhibition's curator and artistic director.
