Brazilian Embassy celebrates independence with exhibition by Espírito Santo painter Angela Gomes in Ecuador
Espirito Santo painter Angela Gomes presents her solo exhibition "And the World of Shapes and Colors of Brazil" at the Museo de Arte Naif Latinoamericano (MANLA) in Quito. The official opening takes place this Friday (September 5th), with the presence of the Brazilian Ambassador to Ecuador, Flavio Soares Damico.
The exhibition features twenty new acrylic-on-canvas works that highlight Brazil's colorfulness and regional identity. The paintings offer a joyful and profound look at the country's cultural diversity and natural richness.
"I was delighted to receive the invitation to bring a piece of Brazil to Quito through the colors and shapes of naive art. I hope the public can experience the diversity and cultural richness of our country, and that the art awakens genuine emotions," emphasizes Angela Gomes.
In addition to the exhibition, Angela Gomes will lead a naive art workshop for the local public, sharing her knowledge and passion for the style. Visual artist, researcher, and historian Almerinda Lopes will also participate in the event, giving a lecture on naive art.
The event is part of the official commemorative activities of the Brazilian Embassy in Ecuador and will run until October 5th.
A native of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Angela Gomes is a leading figure in naive art in Espírito Santo. The artist has exhibited at important museums, such as the MAC in Campinas and the International Museum of Naive Art in Rio de Janeiro, in addition to participating in international exhibitions in countries such as Portugal, France, Monaco, Argentina, Italy, Peru, and Germany.
