Eduardo Costantini Reassumes Presidency of the Malba Foundation

The founder of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires replaces Teresa Bulgheroni, who held the position for five years.
Eduardo F. Costantini, founder of the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba), will resume the presidency of the Malba Foundation in June 2025, according to the institution.
This return coincides with a key moment for the museum, which is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary on September 21, 2026. The current president, Teresa Bulgheroni, who assumed the position in November 2020, will continue to serve as vice president, alongside Norah Garfunkel de Hojman, with the goal of further strengthening the museum's international presence.

According to the announcement, Costantini's return comes amid significant progress for Malba, such as the recent opening of a new location in Escobar and the appointment of Rodrigo Moura as the institution's Artistic Director.
In his remarks, Costantini highlighted the "relevance of this moment for the museum, which is approaching a quarter-century of history." He also praised Bulgheroni's management, highlighting his role in the international expansion of Latin American art, including its reach into regions such as the Middle East. "Teresa's work in recent years has been exceptional, and we will continue working together on the museum's international projection," he stated.

During his tenure, Bulgheroni led a process of institutional consolidation focused on the internationalization of Malba. Among his most notable achievements is the organization of the Latin American exhibition, presented at the National Museum of Qatar, which marked a milestone in positioning Latin American art in the Middle East and North Africa. He also promoted the creation of the International Circle, a network of collectors and cultural benefactors aimed at enhancing the global presence of the region's art. He also promoted touring exhibitions organized by Malba, such as Yente - Del Prete. Vida Venturosa (Yente - Del Prete: Vida Venturosa), shown at the Tomie Ohtake Institute in São Paulo; Gyula Kosice. Intergaláctico (Gyula Kosice: Intergaláctico), which appeared at the Pérez Art Museum in Miami and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston; and Cecilia Vicuña. Soñar el Agua (Cecilia Vicuña: Dreaming of Water), presented at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile, Malba, and the Pinacoteca in São Paulo.

Furthermore, Bulgheroni led initiatives such as the technological renovation of the museum's auditorium, which included the incorporation of a high-quality digital projector donated by the Government of Japan, and Malba's participation in the "Museums Without Borders" initiative with the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) in India. An external consultancy was also implemented to optimize the institution's operational, technological, and human resources effectiveness.

In anticipation of Malba's 25th anniversary, several notable projects have been announced. These include a new display of the permanent collection spanning several galleries, the publication of a book on Malba's collection for international distribution, and a gala featuring prominent figures from the cultural world. These initiatives seek to consolidate the museum's legacy and celebrate its impact on the global dissemination of Latin American art.
