Latin American Art Auction: The Star, an Oil Painting by Rufino Tamayo

The Portrait of Olga is one of 94 works—including paintings, sculptures, and drawings—by 65 Mexican and Latin American artists that will be auctioned.
With a starting price of between 17 and 18 million pesos, the oil painting Portrait of Olga, painted by Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991) in 1945, immortalizing his muse, promoter, and life partner, Olga Flores Rivas, is the star lot of Morton's Latin American Art Auction.

The auction, which will offer 94 works—including paintings, sculptures, and drawings—by 65 Mexican and Latin American artists, will take place tomorrow, November 6, at 5:00 p.m. at Monte Athos 179, Lomas de Chapultepec, the auction house's headquarters.

The auction, one of the most anticipated by the Mexican auction house, will also feature works by artists such as Diego Rivera, Rodolfo Morales, Juan Soriano, Olga Costa, Angelina Beloff, Ricardo Martínez, Luis Nishizawa, José Chávez Morado, Alfredo Zalce, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Francisco Corzas, Ángel Zárraga, Miguel Covarrubias, and Jorge González Camarena,
among others.
