The Agenda from Thursday, December 4th to Wednesday, December 10th in Buenos Aires
EDITA Book Fair. The ninth edition of EDITA takes place on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th in La Plata (in front of the Emilio Pettoruti Provincial Museum, Av. 51 between 5 and 6), with free admission. There will be more than 150 independent publishers, talks, workshops, readings, live music, and a children's area. Saturday is open from 12 pm to 9 pm and Sunday from 3 pm to 9 pm. Among the main activities are “Poem Moves Us,” “A Fascination,” and other literary events, as well as a children's program. Among the main guests will be Sergio Bizzio and Esther Cross.
Concert at Arthaus. This December 6th and 7th, at Bartolomé Mitre 434, the Arthaus Ensemble closes the year with *Life Finds Its Way*, an immersive concert that combines the dreamlike music of English composer Bryn Harrison with a five-screen video installation created especially for the performance by Charly Nijensohn, an Argentine visual artist based in Germany. Directed by Pablo Druker and featuring seven musicians on stage, the performances will be on Saturday the 6th at 5:30 pm and 8 pm, and on Sunday the 7th at 6:30 pm; tickets are available through Alternativa Teatral.
Exhibitions. The Herlitzka & Co. gallery opens two simultaneous exhibitions: *Eye of Water*, the first solo show by Argentine artist Hernán Salamanco, and *Feathers*, by Peruvian artist Mariano León, in Room E. Both exhibitions explore memory and the symbolic weight of unconventional materials, reinforcing the gallery's focus on contemporary Latin American art and intergenerational dialogue. It can be visited at Libertad 1630, Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturdays by appointment.
Talk. At the Palacio Libertad, the talk "Antonio Pujia: Sculpture in a Poetic Key" will be given by Analía Romero and Nicolás Boschi, students of the sculptor. The event will focus on the encaustic technique—originating in Ancient Egypt and based on the use of beeswax as a binder for pigments—with a demonstration of its principles, applications in sculpture and painting, and its relevance in contemporary art. The activity is free, no prior registration is required, and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached.
Performance. At the Museo Moderno, Maricel Álvarez presents "Me and This Mystery, Here We Are (Little Suite of Myself)," a performative piece in which she engages in dialogue on stage with four dolls created in her image, each linked to characters she portrayed in "Exquisite Pain," "Hecuba or the Canine Gynaeceum," and "Orlando." A dysphoric alternate history and a meditative Medea. The piece revisits these experiences through texts by Whitman, Sophie Calle, García Wehbi, Ibarlucía, and Quignard. Performances will be on Friday, December 5, at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, December 6, at the same times. Tickets can be purchased here.
Japan in Argentina. The Embassy of Japan in Argentina closes the "Japan in its Writing" series with a visit from master Ryuho Hamano, a leading figure in Japanese calligraphy. In Buenos Aires, he will offer a free workshop, a live demonstration, a guided tour, and special activities in collaboration with the Library of Congress. All events are free and open to the public; more information here.
Art and Nature. On Saturday, December 6, at 6:00 p.m., the MuseoCampo Cañuelas (Route 6 - Km 95) presents Complex Hope, an installation that culminates a collective process and serves as a tribute to Luis Felipe Noé. The project, spearheaded by the Luis Felipe Noé Foundation and the Tres Pinos Foundation, brought together professionals from diverse disciplines and revolves around the idea that “you know how things begin, but not how they end.” Tickets here.
