Book Brasília, the art of democracy will be launched on Monday (16/6) at FGV in Rio

FGV Arte and the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP) will launch the book Brasília, the art of democracy next Monday (16/6).

The publication, organized by Paulo Herkenhoff, is a tribute to the federal capital and the central figures in the construction of the city, such as writer Vera Brant, educator Darcy Ribeiro, President Juscelino Kubitschek, architect Oscar Niemeyer and urban planner Lucio Costa.

Analyzing the history of its creation and development, the strength of republican political institutions and valuing art and architecture, the work celebrates the 65th anniversary of the first modernist capital of Latin America.

The event will take place from 5pm at the Cultural Center of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, in Rio de Janeiro, located at Praia de Botafogo, 186, South Zone.
