Qatar-Argentina Year of Culture

The Qatari Embassy presented its spring program for the Qatar-Argentina Year of Culture 2025.
The Minister of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires, Hernán Lombardi, and the Minister of Culture of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Ricardes, participated in the event.
In a special preview organized by the Qatari Embassy in Buenos Aires, the Years of Culture initiative announced the details of the Qatar-Argentina 2025 spring season on Tuesday, September 16. The program will feature music, debates, community service, and even a bicycle tour across international borders.

Qatar's ambassador to Argentina, Battal Al Dosari, emphasized that this date brings with it several celebrations: "This partnership comes at a particularly significant moment in Qatar's cultural history, as we celebrate several important anniversaries, including the 20th anniversary of Qatar Museums and the 50th anniversary of the Qatar National Museum. These triumphs are being commemorated through Evolution Nation, a campaign that traces our journey from the founding of the National Museum to the robust cultural ecosystem of today."

The Minister of Economic Development of the City of Buenos Aires, Hernán Lombardi, and the Minister of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires, Gabriela Ricardes, took part in the event and expressed their support for the continued collaboration. Both officials highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy as a tool to deepen bilateral ties. As Ricardes noted: "These exchanges expand opportunities for dialogue, creativity, and long-term cooperation."
Qatar Reads, Dialogue with Malba, and Future Projects

This year's program featured the historic LATINOAMERICANO exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar, organized in collaboration with the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), and became the first major exhibition of Latin American art in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region.

Qatar Reads, an initiative led by the Qatar National Library focused on fostering a love of reading from an early age, will bring Arabic tales to Argentina through storytelling workshops and the distribution of 1,000 reading kits, all translated into Spanish. A complementary exhibition of 12 miniature-style paintings by Qatari artist Wadha Al Athba, inspired by the fables in the book Kalila wa Dimna, will be on display at the Ricardo Güiraldes Library until the end of October.
On another note, this fall, seven Argentine startups traveled to Doha to participate in Project Qatar, where Argentina was honored as a Guest Country by the Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry. These companies showcased the latest in Argentine innovation, from biotechnology to blockchain, and met with investors and government representatives to explore opportunities for global expansion. Through this collaboration, Years of Culture set a new precedent for how cultural exchange can intersect with economic opportunity. This approach will continue later this year, when an Argentine delegation participates in the important Hospitality Qatar trade show, from November 28 to 30.
A Season of Encounters
