The museum incorporated pieces by Benítez, Martorell, Wall, Alvarado, Legón, Pereira, and Ojeda Bär in a record-breaking purchase promoted by its Acquisitions Committee.
The Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (Malba) announced the acquisition of seven new works for its collection as part of the arteba fair, thanks to record-breaking contributions from its Acquisitions Committee and private donors.
The pieces are by artists Marcelo Benítez (Untitled, n.d.), María Martorell (Tangente, 1967), Joan Wall (Untitled, 1969), Flor Alvarado (Venus Bolita, 2023-2024), Martín Legón (New Realism, 2022-2024), Sandro Pereira (Sembrador, 2025), and Laura Ojeda Bär (IOMMI, 2025).
"We are very pleased to incorporate these works, which strengthen the diverse and constantly expanding collection of the Malba Collection," said Artistic Director Rodrigo Moura, highlighting the inclusion of historical figures and contemporary proposals that engage with figures such as Enio Iommi, Tarsila do Amaral, and Antonio Berni.
Development Director Elena Nofal emphasized that this was the largest contribution achieved in recent years within arteba, thanks to the support of the Committee members.
Since 2012, this group of donors has collaborated with the curatorial team on the selection of pieces, enabling the museum to continue expanding its collection of Latin American art.
