From October 28 to November 2, 2025, the Place de la Concorde in Paris will host one of Europe's most important contemporary art gatherings: the Salon d’Automne. In this edition, The Muisca Gallery, based in Colombia, will participate as an ambassador of Latin American art, highlighting the work of renowned Colombian painter María Mercado.

The centerpiece of his proposal, titled Embrace Duality, seeks to invite viewers to reflect on the duality of existence as a process of personal and collective transformation. With a style steeped in symbolism, Mercado presents a visual manifesto of resilience, strength, and renewal that has already been celebrated in cities such as New York and Tokyo, and now reaches the heart of Paris.
The Muisca Gallery's participation in this prestigious event consolidates its commitment to the internationalization of Latin American art. In addition to Mercado's work, the gallery will exhibit works by artists such as Cristian Mitrani, Fernando Jiménez, Gabe, Karen G, and Paulo Brito, who offer diverse perspectives ranging from magical realism to the most contemporary technical experimentation.

The proposal seeks to articulate a dialogue between art, philosophy, and humanism, in line with the disruptive tradition that has characterized the Salon d'Automne since its founding in 1903. This historic salon has been the cradle of the avant-garde and a showcase for great masters such as Henri Matisse, Paul Cézanne, and Pablo Picasso. Today, more than a century later, it continues to be a democratic and plural space for artistic innovation.

For many critics, María Mercado's presence on this stage confirms her role as one of the most influential voices in Colombian contemporary art. Her work has become a benchmark that connects Latin American cultural roots with global debates about identity, resilience, and transformation.
Mercado represents a generation of artists who, from Colombia, have managed to make their way onto international circuits with projects that transcend borders and position the country as a relevant player within the global art scene.
