Since her arrival, the president of CNAP fulfilled an extensive agenda in Rome, with the support of the Cuban Embassy in Italy, and developed a program of visits to places of interest, museums and galleries, with the purpose of showing and promoting Cuban art. .
“Everything that is done in terms of culture is important, because culture unites us. It is a universal language that we all understand, from sensitivity,” she stated.

“In a time of crisis, difficult for the world, it is important to bring culture to other latitudes and show what our small island, which is a beacon of resistance in the middle of the Caribbean, has achieved in terms of culture,” he emphasized.

This year the 40th anniversary of the Havana Biennale is celebrated, which has a different concept than that of Venice, and its 15th edition will take place from November 15 to February 28, 2025.

Among the purposes of her visit, according to the official, is to discuss and gain experience from the Venice Biennale, the oldest and most important international event for the visual arts, which will run from April 20 to November 24 of this year.

For the first time, in this 60th edition, the curator will be a Latin American, the Brazilian Adriano Pedrosa, current director of the Sao Paulo Art Museum.

As one of the first activities within the framework of this world exhibition, Wilfredo Prieto, the only Cuban artist officially invited to it, will offer a conference today at the Palazzo Cosulich in Venice on his work.

Born in 1978 in the central province of Sancti Spíritus, this creator, graduated from the Higher Institute of Art of Cuba (ISA), presented individual exhibitions in his country, as well as in Denmark, Mexico, Italy, Portugal, United States, France, Brazil and Türkiye, among other nations.

Among his most notable works of recent times is his project Viaje Infinito, which he develops in the Zaza del Medio municipality of his native province, a lemniscate-shaped road, surrounded by social projects, which according to critics could be considered one of the largest monumental sculptures in Latin America.

What Prieto brings to Venice, with his Cortina exhibition, has to do with this sense of conceptual dialogue with the public, said the president of the CNAP.
