There is still time to be at Swab Barcelona 2024, don't miss the opportunity
Swab Barcelona announces the dates of its 17th edition, which will take place from October 3 to 6 at the Textile Pavilion of the Fira de Montjuïc. The fair will welcome more than 70 local and international galleries that will exhibit the new trends of the international art scene. The selection of participating galleries will be in charge of the members of the Selection Committee, made up of the following curators and collectors:

Omar López-Chahoud, independent commissioner and director of UNTITLED
Jérôme Pantalacci, independent curator and director of Art-o-Rama
Isa Natalia Castilla, co-owner and co-director of Material Art Fair
Domenico de Chirico, independent commissioner
Jesper Stieler, collector and member of the Danish Society of Collectors
Marie Elena Angulo, collector and patron of the Contemporary Art Society in London and member of the Board of Oolite Arts Miami
Pedro Jaile, collector
Jose Luís Lorenzo, collector and member of the Latin American Art Acquisitions Committee of the Tate Modern, London.
Each edition of Swab is distinguished by its careful artistic programming, which is segmented into various programs within the fair. Among them, the General Program stands out, which welcomes galleries with a consolidated presence in the artistic circuit. Likewise, its Emerging subsection stands out, made up of galleries with less than 5 years of experience but already firmly established in the artistic field, forming the epicenter of the fair with proposals from emerging artists in the current artistic scene.
Added to this panorama are the galleries that enter the art market with their first participation in a fair, through the MYFAF program. In which Swab grants scholarships to three galleries with less than 2 years of existence and without previous experience in fairs, providing them with a stand free of charge to facilitate their initial foray into the international market.

In line with its identity, Swab maintains a strong commitment to independent and curated programs. A notable example of this is the consolidated section Seed, which encompasses projects that transcend the conventional gallery concept and are linked to independent self-managed spaces, all united by their focus on artistic experimentation. Likewise, the Solo section, inaugurated in the previous edition, focuses on independent local projects in collaboration with the Vila Casa Foundation. In this edition, it expands its horizons by inviting a special territory, Taipei, to engage in dialogue and make connections, curated by Southeast Asian curatorial collective, SUAVEART.

Finally, it is worth highlighting the curated programs focused on specific geographical areas, such as LATAM, curated by Santiago Gasquet, as well as Focus Tokyo/Seoul curated by Kelvin Kyun and Video Box Taipei, also by SUAVEART. These programs will explore the connections and reflections of creative realities between territories, with a special emphasis in this edition on the Asian territory.

Swab Barcelona invites galleries and independent spaces to be part of its 2024 programming, which will take place from October 3 to 6 at Fira Barcelona.

Applications can be found here, with a closing deadline of the end of April.
