November at MALBA: Art, Film, and Latin American Voices

In the heart of Palermo, November promises a cultural symphony at MALBA. The highly anticipated exhibition “Pop Brasil: Avant-garde and New Figuration, 1960s-70s” will open to the public, the retrospective dedicated to Ulises Beisso will close, and the Bazofi film series will take over the auditorium. The museum thus reaffirms its commitment to Latin American art, experimentation, and the aesthetic experience that transcends generations.
Must-See Exhibitions

The grand opening will be on Thursday, November 6, at 7:00 p.m., with the inauguration of “Pop Brasil: Avant-garde and New Figuration, 1960s-70s.” The exhibition will be open to the public from Friday, November 7, and will run until February 2, 2026. The exhibition explores the intersections of pop art, politics, and culture in Brazil during the 1960s and 70s, featuring artists such as Claudio Tozzi and guest curators.

Meanwhile, the exhibition “Ulises Beisso: My Private World” is coming to a close, running until November 10, 2025. This is the first institutional retrospective in Argentina of the Uruguayan artist, whose work combines humor, social critique, and irreverent figuration.

In addition, starting November 7, the museum presents a new interpretation of its permanent collection with “Third Eye: The Costantini Collection at MALBA,” a journey through the tensions and dialogues of contemporary Latin American art.

Cinema and Off-the-Round Experiences

Throughout November, the museum's auditorium will host Bazofi, the now-classic film festival organized by Filmoteca Buenos Aires, known for rescuing gems of experimental cinema and forgotten films of the 20th century. A must-see for film lovers, with screenings on film and a program that challenges commercial logic.

Among the featured screenings is "Turtle Chases Turtle" by Argentine director Víctor González, which can be seen on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. starting November 8. General admission is $6,000, with discounts for students and seniors.

Why it's worth going

This November, MALBA becomes a bridge between past and future, between popular art and aesthetic experimentation. Brazilian Pop engages in dialogue with the Uruguayan intimacy of Beisso and the free spirit of independent cinema. It is a laboratory where Latin American culture recognizes itself, reinvents itself, and projects itself.
