Centenary of Surrealism with the participation of prominent Bolivian artists

La Paz, Oct 1, 2024 (ATB Digital).- The exhibition will not only present the pieces of national contemporary artists, but will also highlight the connection of surrealism with Latin American art.

The Galerie de la Alliance Française in La Paz will host, starting tomorrow, October 2, the art exhibition 100 Years of Surrealism, which will bring together prominent Bolivian artists whose works explore dreams, the subconscious and the fusion of the real with the imaginary, in homage to the global surrealist legacy.

“With this exhibition, the Alliance Française joins the global commemoration of the 100 years of surrealism, which will be celebrated in the great museums and galleries around the world. This movement was born in Paris in October 1924 under the leadership of the French writer André Breton and has influenced generations of creators worldwide, such as Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso, Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, Remedios Varo, Luis Buñuel, among others," says the Alliance Française.

The exhibition will not only present pieces by national contemporary artists, but will also highlight the connection of surrealism with Latin American art.

The exhibition will feature the participation of some of the most recognized masters and promising artists of Bolivia, who through their work invite us to reflect on reality and dreams. There will be more than twenty artists, including Marcelo Suaznabar, Mauricio Bayro, Erasmo Zarzuela, Froilán Cosme, José Luis Pomar, Magenta Murillo, Rina Mamani, Corina Barrero, Vidal Cusi, Guido Quispe, Ramiro Machaca, Édgar Quispe, Cesar Torrico, Jhony Aguilar and others.
